About

Fishbones is a Norwegian technology company that has developed a unique method for well stimulation. Their customer base primarily consists of energy industry operators. With employees in over ten countries and a strong network of agents, Fishbones operates extensively across borders.

Challenge

Fishbones needed better communication between departments and locations.Rather than using multiple disconnected systems, they wanted to bring everything into a single platform to create a more organic and integrated way of working.

Solution

Business Online proved flexible enough to meet the diverse needs across the organization—from R&D to operations and management systems. A system where all employees can work together and in parallel.

Result

Adopting Business Online led to improved workflow across teamsand departments, easier reporting to management and the board, less time spent searching for information, and better tools for planning and distributing work.

Need for better internal communication

In recent years, Fishbones has experienced significant growth. As a result, they were seeking a solution that could handle their entire business line without relying on multiple separate systems. The system needed to address their needs across everything from research and development to commercial operations and management systems.

"We noticed that things could slip through the cracks, and we needed better communication flow,"says Lill-Susann Engevik Rugtvedt, VP Supply Chain Management.

Fishbones was unsure how employees would react to transitioning from working primarily in their individual Outlook inboxes to a centralized system.

"We didn’t want to have many separate systems. We wanted to consolidate everything into one system so that we could achieve a more organic integration of everything we’re working on," explains Rugtvedt.

Beyond improving work and communication flow, Fishbones also wanted a solid planning tool.

"The most important thing we do is plan and be able to distribute work efficiently."

A flexible system that connects theory and practice

When Fishbones was looking for a new system, it was essential for them to find a solution that could bring the entire company together in one place, avoiding the challenges and costs associated with using multiple separate systems.

At the same time, it can be difficult to find systems that seamlessly connect documentation and practice, which is why they ultimately chose Business Online.

Rugtvedt explains:

“With Business Online, we have a good integration between governing documentation and processes.”

Rugtvedt elaborates:

“It’s a quality system where everything from improvement suggestions to deviations and observations are integrated. This means we spend less time searching for things. Information is much more accessible now.”

Better workflow with Business Online

Business Online is a flexible project management system that connects the various departments within a company. When all employees work within the same system, not only does it become easier to find information, but it also simplifies internal information sharing.

This enhances internal knowledge sharing within the company and reduces the need to search for information, as all data is structured within the system.

For Fishbones, this has made everyday work much easier, as Rugtvedt explains:

“We quickly saw that our daily operations became easier.”

Rugtvedt elaborates:

“It was easier to handle workloads, make priorities, get in touch with people, and clarify who was responsible for various tasks.”

Good workflow between people, departments, and locations can be a challenge for most companies. At the same time, it’s important to optimize not only to streamline internal processes but also to deliver better quality and more output to customers.

When asked what Fishbones considers the biggest benefit of using Business Online, Rugtvedt replies:

“The workflow we get from Business Online is the biggest benefit for us. We see it within departments, between departments, and among different employees.”

She adds:

“Additionally, reporting to management and the board has improved because it’s easy to visualize the company’s current status.”
